RapidPakRx — Strip pouch adherence packager

Vertically integrated, ground-up design of RxSafe's high-speed strip pouch medication packager. Aaron was responsible for nearly all software design and development, and co-led mechanical design alongside one additional mechanical engineer.

Scope of work

  • Full system architecture — mechanical and electrical design through software and machine controls
  • Invented a novel machine vision technique for detecting, counting, and classifying pills inside sealed medication pouches
  • Designed universal cartridge system — no cassette calibration required across all oral solid medications
  • High-speed production throughput with inline optical verification at each pouch
This work resulted in multiple granted patents covering the machine vision detection and classification techniques.

Led all machine vision design and nearly all software development for RxSafe's blister card medication packaging system, enabling pharmacies to produce patient-adherence blister packs with automated pill verification at production scale.

Scope of work

  • Sole designer of all machine vision systems — pill detection, counting, and verification for blister card format
  • Responsible for nearly 100% of software architecture and production implementation
  • Supports pharmacies in producing patient adherence packaging at production scale

Software design and machine control integration for RxSafe's flagship robotic pharmacy tower — a high-density system storing up to 1,800 stock bottles and processing over 120 prescriptions per hour with a single operator.

Scope of work

  • Software design and machine control architecture for robotic storage and retrieval
  • Integration of item-level inventory tracking by NDC, lot number, expiration date, and serial number
  • High-throughput dispensing at production pharmacy scale — 120+ scripts per hour
